Product Introduction:

Cryolite is mainly composed of sodium hexafluoroaluminate or sodium aluminum fluoride, the molecular formula is Na3AlF6, small white crystals, odorless, specific gravity is 3, hardness 2~3, melting point 1009 degrees Celsius, easy to absorb moisture.

The Hall-Heroult process uses cryolite based fluoride melt as a solvent to produce aluminum. So far, no other compound has been found that can replace cryolite. This is because cryolite, in addition to being able to dissolve alumina, also has some other indispensable properties, such as no electrical elements than aluminum, good stability, under normal conditions do not decompose, do not volatilize, do not delix, melting point is higher than aluminum, good conductivity, saving electricity and so on.
